Okay, let me see how well I can explain this, since I don't have any pictures... I was in Disneyland last week and saw these little toys that were a clear Mickey Mouse head on a handle. The clear head had a mechanism in it that spun LED lights in a circular motion. This looked VERY close to the clear dome and lights on the Giga Meter. I have since found a another one at Target, minus the Mickey head, this one has a perfectly round sphere on it. I think this could be easily modified for a Giga Meter. I'm just not sure if it would be the right size, but I'm sure the mechanism and lights could be taken out and put into a dome the correct size... Anyway, I just wanted to share my finding with everyone.

I know exactly what you mean. I posted about this same object on a different prop forum about 3 weeks ago. Glad you posted it here as I didn't think to mention it here too.

Yes, these things are about $15 each at Disneyland but I've found them in the Discovery Channel store for about $8 each. I'm sure that if these are for sale in their retail stores that someone could either order them online from the Discovery Channel or at least e-mail their DC stores an inquiry about buying these.

These things are the PERFECT size and shape, and have all the motors and lights needed. Pics here:

That's it!... Target sells them as well, which means Wal-Mart probably has them too. I would imagine they are even cheaper there than at the Discovery store... Hey, I was just wondering what part of California you are in? I live a little north of the bay area and we're talking about getting a Ghostbusters crew started. If you're interested? :D

I try to look for it at the Target store but I can not find it. Which section is it in?

It was in the toy section on an end cap to one of the isles that had the girly/little kid toys. :)

There was a toy made long ago, late 90s, early millenium using the same principles, except the bugger ALREADY CAME IN A DOME THE RIGHT SHAPE!!! It had two knobs that adjusted the speed of spin and blink, if anyone follows that. I had some talk to Viper about it when I realized it, and he was like "Yea. If you weren't going for exactness, it'd work, but it's a tad too large." So if you can find those anywhere, I suggest you use them. It's perfect besides the fact that it's... I'd say about an inch too large in total diameter of the dome. I'll google it and see what comes up.

Ok, so it's called the Saturn 5... light show, or light doodler. I've found it by both names. Want to buy it?

It looks orange, and big. But check out This Giga-meter that used the Saturn!

I'd use it, if I built a Giga.
