As per Dr. Strange's suggestion, here's a thread for Aussie suppliers of prop and costume parts. If you have anything to add, post it here.

Proton Pack clippard valves
Air & Hydraulic Systems Pty Limited

T: +61 2 9939-6199

Proton Pack elbows and brass fittings
SMC Manufacturing

There's a few more but I'm having a mental block at the moment!

I edited my Elbow Pads thread from a few days ago after DoctorStrange's suggestion that we start a thread for Aussie suppliers of Proton Pack parts. So if you know of a place that sells the stuff we use, post it here.

Has anyone tried ordering those pads from the centurymartialarts site? I went to register and it requires a company detail. This made me pause because I'm curious if they only deal direct to distributors or has any one else managed to get these w/o any problems?

Hey mate i bought 2 pairs of Reliance volley ball knee pads from rebel sport the other day............... they are white and look awesome, just gotta dye em grey now. Try your local rebel and see if they have em or if they can order them in. I got the junior size to fit on my arm................. anyway let me know how you go.

I bought mine from Centurymartialarts.com.au . They do sell direct to the public. I think they're on permanent back-order, so when you order through the Aussie distributor it takes a couple of weeks to arrive. Well worth it in my opinion.

It's gonna have to wait now, I spent over US$400 on uniforms, frames, etc (plus other things) just the other day and I'm a little cash strapped :/

To further Rick's post, i've found the Australian distributor for Clippard:
Pneumatics Direct Australia - http://www.pdaustralia.com.au/clippard.php
There's a branch in every state, which'll make it easier to get locally ;)

If I recall correctly, the Clippards were $72 AU each from AHS, but that price probably fluctuates depending on the current exchange rates. Maybe PDAust. can do a better price.

The salesman at the time also told me that these Clippard valves are popular with model Warship builders. Apparently they use them for controlling pnuematic canons and guns and stuff for their model ships. I thought that was pretty cool.

Hey all,

I just picked up my elbow pads from my local Rebel Sports for $12.99. They are Junior size so I'm stretching them out but they look the part (well after dying/etc) and they have no label/logo printed on them so they are ready to go!

Yeah, I just checked the label (good thing I didn't chuck it). I'm awfully tempted to get a couple more for spares and the inevitable 'hey, can you make me a costume?' from family and friends .. and I'll charge them extra ;)

Just picked up another set of pads from Rebel Sport, same price but in Senior, which they didn't have before. Still feel a bit snug so I'm not entirely certain there is much of a difference in the sizing.

for alice frames also belts game style torches etc. footwear section a bit limited so you might want to look elsewhere to get a better deal for your boots.
I know that there are a lot of surplus places around but this is the best I know plus if you're in WA it's nice to know you don't have to pay postage on top of everything else.
I've been trying to source appropriate flight suits, any suggestions?

Flight suits are still cheapest on Ebay from the States. Worth the time scouring for one in your size. I got my nomex for 37us brand new with 30 bucks shipping. If you want extremely accurate and have the pocket money as I wish I did I strongly recommend getting on this bandwagon:

WHOA NELLY! I forgot how expensive Wellingtons can be, which is a shame because they used to be quite good, and it's cheaper buying a frame from Uncle Sam's Army Navy Surplus even with postage (especially if you are willing to wait a while and get cheaper postage).

Earlier in this thread I posted about spending $400 (including shipping), and it was all from there but I got my belts, flightsuits, boots, alice frame w/straps. gb:tvg style torch, and a load of other stuff too.

Not strictly Aussie but this is where I get my patches from:
http://www.scifigeeks.com/
decent range, good prices, postage is a bit steep for small orders but it evens out if you order half a dozen or so in one go.

Anyone know where to buy the fobs etc in Aust and the correct tubing for the propack?

Not sure on the fobs, I went with MMM.

Tubing I used for the pack to gun and the crank gen to the cyclotron was from Bunnings. Its just black corrugated water hose.
Other tubing was a tube kit from MMM. all the lengths and sizes you want. But, blue 5 mill stuff you can get at any plumbing place, its used for drinking water units, and red stuff try a mechanic's you can red brake line that does the job.
