44S fits me perfectly in Nomex, so I just ordered a standard size... from what I'm told, they fit just the same as Nomex suits (although, I'm sure the PC will shrink a bit in the wash, which is not a huge deal) and it saves me $40... still took a while due to all the extra options, though...

So, these showed up in the mail today!

I will say this, now that I've put it on, these standard sizes are smaller than the Nomex (so this 44S is definitely smaller than a Flyer's Nomex 44S suits that we're accustomed to)... It fits perfectly, but that means I have to be extra careful when putting these in the wash, definitely don't want to have this shrink anymore than it has (I already put it through a washer and dryer cycle once before this photo, just to see how much it would shrink if I followed the instructions on the collar tag)... Only issue I have is that the chest size (44) is good, and the pant length (S) is good, so if I ordered a 46S, it would be too big, and if I ordered a 44R, it would be too long... so spending the extra $40 is probably worth it if you want to ensure shrinkage will not affect you... that is, if they start accepting custom orders eventually again...

On a side note, it doesn't have the Blue tint the others kept talking about... Looks exactly as it did in the Rolling Stone GB2 photo shoot...

That is just awesome! Thanks to this thread I now know where to get a screen accurate uniform...but why are they not taking custom orders?

Ahhhh ok now I get it!! Thanks :) I may be waiting a good while before I'll be able to place an order with them!

Lol yeah don't I know it! I'm a newcomer to the whole props scene and boy, am I learning fast :-o

That is because the color will vary from bolt to bolt. The dye recipe is the same but due to variances in the dye mixture, etc each bolt is a "unique" color.

Weird and frustrating I know....
#4837998
Ah, I figured as much, but didn't realize how extreme the hues could be... I'm happy I got the right color right off the bat, but I believe most have said the blue tint eventually fades after a couple of washes anyways... Thanks, Joe!

I've successfully ordered a G&B suit, thanks to the info on this thread :) Jessica, the sales rep, was really helpful. There is a 10-12 week lead time which I don't mind at all, and they'll take payment on completion of the order. I gave them my specific measurements over clothing I'll wear underneath. Cost: $246, which I think is well worth it.

Hi Alexander,

The order I am placing is for: (qty 1)

Sentinel style (with all the standard options)

Khaki

Long sleeve

Resolute (poly-cotton)

Side entry zippers

Hook & loop tabs on the rear of the leg (keeping the leg zippers on the front)

No Velcro on the chest

No FOD cover (p/p slots will stay on pocket)

Made with brass zippers

Please let me know if you need anything else.

Thank you,

Jessica Wood

Thanks again guys :)

Hmmm... I guess Rita is no longer handling the orders? $246 sounds about right for pricing, as the custom fit ones are normally $40 more... but, unless they are not charging for shipping, I think you may be getting a good deal out of this... right on!
#4838608
Thanks! They are charging for shipping - but I'm in London you see :) It's $75.50 but it's worth it for something like this; I've spent a fortune on all the other stuff I need so this is a drop in the ocean at this stage!!
#4838609
So, $246+$75 shipping? Ouch... but thanks for the news, good to hear we can start ordering again, I need to get my wife a dark gray suit sometime...
#4838610
No worries! Lol yeah I know, it's pricey plus I'll get customs charges on that too most likely...thing is, I'm like you guys with the details, and if I'm gonna do this, I've gotta do it right :)

abaka wrote:I believe my custom charge for 2 suits last year from Gibson and Barnes was about £100 so you'd be looking at around £50 I'd wager.
Yeah I thought it would be around that figure :( Annoying, but it's worth it to have the quality flight suit which is screen accurate ;)

Thought I'd update this thread, after a good 12 weeks or so I have finally received my G&B flightsuit in P/C Resolute with the custom options and made to measure, which was a costly exercise given that I'm all the way over in London...the quality is outstanding and it fits well - a little too well maybe, it has a definate tailored look which I have mixed feelings about at the moment, and I was very careful with the measurements I gave. Giving an extra inch on them may have been the better option in the end, but hey ho...maybe in the future I'll find one made of ripstop fabric, which also looks like a much lighter material as this one is damn heavy!

We got one! (I was worried the trap would fall off if I held it by the cable lol)

All in all I am left with mixed feelings with this flightsuit, mainly due to the close fitting and heavy material, and may not be the most comfortable thing to wear for lengthy periods. Or it may be that I'm just not used to wearing flightsuits!

So does this mean they are making gb style suits again? I've been told that they halt orders every so often.
#4848609
I put in my order for one with the GB specs back in July and Jessica Wood, product specialist for G&B, handled my order for which there was 10-12 week lead time, and there was no issue with having the options I requested

Hi everyone. I am new to the community but I am looking into ordering my GB1 and GB2 flight suits. I have read through this thread about 3 times so far but I just have a couple of questions I needed clarification on.

1. For the GB2 is it Dark Gray or Navy I should be ordering?

2. Is PC the standard material everyone is choosing for both GB1 and GB2?

3. Has anyone ordered recently and are they still taking GB suit orders, are they accepting customer provided material yet?

And is this the standard way I should place my order to be screen accurate for both suits, changing the color of course on each order?

Sentinel style (with all the standard options)

Khaki

Long sleeve

Resolute (poly-cotton)

Side entry zippers

Hook & loop tabs on the rear of the leg (keeping the leg zippers on the front)

No Velcro on the chest

No FOD cover (p/p slots will stay on pocket)

Made with brass zippers

1. Dark Grey
2. I did PC.
3. I ordered earlier this year. In the last 6 years of keeping tabs, I found that there are windows where they are free to make suits for us nerds.

Make sure you find Rita Weldy. Everyone else at Gibson and Barnes will not understand your request.
#4875790
Yeah, all you have to do is tell Rita "Ghostbusters" and the color, and she'll already know what options you need...

I just left Gibson & Barnes. I met with Rita who took my chest measurement which was about 44. She had me try on a 44R . But it just felt way too tight in the chest area. So then I tried a 46R but still just a little restricking in the chest and arms. . We then tried a 48R which seemed just about perfect. It left me with breathing room and overall I just felt like I could move my arms easier and it wasn't so form fitting. Now because I went bigger on top I ended up having to have the legs made to measure. Thighs and legs taken in, tapered, and a little hemming. I'm 5'7 about 185 pnds. Short and stocky.

I got 1 khaki and 1 dark grey, both in PC. After tax it came to $533.82. She said they should be ready for pick up in about 3 weeks.

I did check with her in regards to customers supplying their own material and she said no.

I don't know if any of this info helps anybody but I just figured I would share my experience in case it does. I measured at 44 but had to go 48 to get away from a form fitting suit.

Thanks for the help in getting me this far guys. It's much appreciated.

WindDrake wrote:The fabric used in the GB2 suits (Nomex) is still around, yeah. I just got my G&B suit in Khaki nomex. Looks awesome.
... The khaki gb2 suits were custom, fabric has its own pattern... Even if it was available i still think Id get the dark flightsuit first. It contrasts the gb1 flightsuits and i think its more iconic of the secound movie, even if its only in movie for 30 secounds

Have seen some herringbone fabric that looks close. Worth looking at samples if Gibson and Barnes would take it again

Hi gang, I know I'm late to this thread but does anyone know if they can still do these suits for us?

This Rita woman seems to be the one to talk to but is she even there anymore?

Just thought I'd ask because I'd love to get the darker colored flight suit.

Thanks!
