I’m sure you guys have been following gpstar’s mods to this (battery/speaker, stay alive, cyclotron lights).

I JUST got my pack today and am planning on doing tutorial videos for those who are noobs at electronics and find his thread hard to follow. Im gonna try to babystep it allow the way as much as I can. Wondering if you guys are interesting in something like this?

PS the wand hose is cheap AF. Is there anyway to make it a nice smooth curve rather it have all these bends throughout?

Just opened the box to find another box which reads “PLEASE OPEN FROM BOTTOM”

What? It says This Way Up? How am I supposed to get this second box out without flipping it over. Why can’t I just open from the top? :boogieman:

Genuinely - advice appreciated - how did you all understand what this means without having an episode? I don’t want to flip the box and damage it.

Edit: OK GOT IT!

Ok, pack arrived, and I'm quite impressed with it overall...
Image The ribbon cable was bothering me so I did a tighter wrap and added some zip ties to hold it.
ImageImage My V-hook will not hold my Version One Spengler Wand so I'm waiting for a San Jamar C927EZ to replace it.
ImageSince I have to pull off the back to do this I'm holding off on adding the frame. Painted the hardware.
ImageRechargeable D batteries work great, also waiting on the accurate yellow hose sleeve replacement.
ImageImageShould have pictures all suited up by next weekend

Thought this might be of interest to a small handful of you depending on just how far you want to go for a screen accurate Spengler pack.

The first photo is a glam shot of the prototype Haslabs pack used to promote the crowdfunding campaign. This is 90% accurate to the final version we recieved. The only real difference seems to be the use of copper strips on the rim of the Cyclotron cover which were replaced with a set of pins & contacts at the 1 o'clock position. Other than that it's pretty much all the same. Including how Hasbro put the control panel with the mode & vibration motor switches in upside down!

Here is a photo of the Cyclotron interior from the workbench hero pack at an early stage of development pre weathering. Notice how those little grey lumps near the switches on the Haslabs pack represent status lights. And they're not just any lights, they're the same Arcoletric indicator lights you see on the Neutrona Wand! What's interesting is there seems to be one LED above each switch likely to indicate if it's on with green or off with red meaning they'd need to have clear lenses & LED's with red & green elements, probably an individually addressable RGB LED with a common cathode or anode. On the right is a panel of 6 LED's, top 2 red, middle 2 amber & bottom 2 green.

They look too tall to be the arcolectric covers:

-If they are arcolectrics, which I'm still a little doubtful of, they'd be white if they're clear covers... As the arcolectric indicators used neon bulbs rather than LEDs.
If they're not arcolectrics, they'd still likely only have one colour, as there's no basis for them changing from green to red, or vice versa.

I know, this is personal taste, but I fell in love with this combo: This is a Delock Braided Sleeve (item number 20742) instead of the screen accurate Flexo PET and it reminds me of the ghost trap, always to be careful when dealing with my nuclear accelerator... what ever. Just in case someone will also like this combo :-)

And without wanting to start too much of a discussion: Since I fixed the immediate shut-off on my pack (this was my first post ever in this forum), my proton pack does not automatically shut down :whatever:

I tried several times and waited up to 15 minutes but it stays on. Manual shutdown works fine with the wand as well as the switch on the pack.

Hu? How? You wrote you had to fix a loose connection only?
#4977927
I'm afraid that this is not an official solution...

My pack initially powered on only in alarm mode, as if the cyclotron would be opened when powered on (I don't know how to link to my first / second post in this forum, but if you search my history you can find it).

One cable was loose and I re-attached it and fixed it with tape. Since then, the first time I powered it on, it stayed on. Maybe my pack is defective (not that bad in this case) or I connected it in the wrong order (see image in first / second post) or it was the tape... I really do not know... or something else with my circuit board differs from the other packs.

Just posted it here, so that electric specialists could have a hint... maybe it's nothing, but my pack remains active until I deactivate it via wand or pack-switch. Just to be sure, I would not recommend to reproduce my procedure as shown in the image (where you can see inside my pack and the circuit board with the re-attached and taped cable), until one of our electric pros says something about it

Okay, I made some experiments with my Proton Pack, which still does not shut down automatically (see previous post). It keeps alive at least for 30 Minutes in Afterlife mode as well in 84 mode. After 30 minutes I switched it off manually (sorry, but this took me 60 minutes to confirm).

Changing the position of the wand cable, switching all of the buttons on the wand... it works all fine without intermediating with my "always on" Proton Pack.

However, when I open up my cyclotron when switched on, an alarm sound is supposed to ring. This is not the case! It just shuts down as if I were using the switch.

When I first got my Proton Pack, there only was this alarm sound and the whole thing did not turn on. In order to fix this I re-attached a cable inside and added some tape. Now it's "stuck" in the power-on mode. Cable and tape can be seen in my 1st or 2nd post here in this forum...

Just to let you guys know... maybe you can give a hint to my findings to some of your electric professionals...

Ecto24601 wrote: January 29th, 2023, 7:46 am How difficult would it be to change the power cell light bar lens cover? Found this on etsy and it looks so tempting to apply: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1397741459 ... ed-5&sts=1
I saw the same thing but you'll still have to completely remove the motherboard, and then remove a vertical panel like this || next to the power cell and then remove the power cell cover from inside. You'll also have to remove the actual power cell lights and then the frosted white lens cover.

It won't be difficult, just time consuming. Too many screws to screw around with!!
#4978073
@Ecto24601 - Yes, lots of screws to screw around with! No idea, as I'm not using the included stand for my pack.
The way I mount the ALICE frame to the motherboard allows the pack to stand upright, at a slight angle, on the floor without the use of the stand.

Been slammed at work recently but finally had an opportunity to open the pack and wand (the wand arrived months ago!).

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I absolutely love this thing. I think Hasbro crushed it, especially at this price point.

Look forward to embarking on the journey of modding, but, in the meantime, I’m going to have the biggest dumb grin on my face. A childhood dream come true…

Has anyone tried some matte light smoke cling non-adhesive window film to help diffuse the four cyclotron lights? I see other adhesive options on Etsy, but I'm hoping to find a less permanent solution that can be easily removed if I don't like it.

Has anyone received the Custom 1984 decals with a brushed chrome look that was promised on the tier one stretch goals?

Stretch Goals:
1) The Classic Bundle (inspired by the 1984 movie)
The first stretch goal will include a connection hose that hooks the HasLab Proton Pack up to the Spengler Neutrona Wand.
Custom 1984 decals with a brushed chrome look will also be included for your pre-existing Spengler Neutrona Wand.
-9000 Backers.

I was also bummed we didn't get a proper back of the pack "DANGER" sticker. I wound up getting one from Moby Signs.ImageImage They also include two bolt head stickers for the ion arm and covers for the three screw holes on the right side of the housing. Image

Looks like someone finally cracked the case on how to keep the pack running until you decide to turn it off yourself.

He'll be posting instructions tomorrow and it looks VERY promising.

It doesn’t show anything other than the pack not turning off. Poster claims that he will provide instructions for building your own using off the shelf parts for about $20 soon.
